Schedule

The first day of class (January 6 Thursday), I'll discuss the administrative aspects of the course and give a brief introduction to the basic ideas of College Algebra. If you miss this day, then you shouldn't suffer too much for it, but you'll want to get the administrative information from me. The next day (January 11 Tuesday), the class will begin in earnest.

In addition to a quick review of Chapters R and 1, we cover the following sections of the textbook: 2.2&2.3, 3.1–3.6, 4.1, 4.3&4.4, 5.1–5.6, 6.1–6.8, and 12.1. In other words, we cover Chapters 2–6, except for Sections 2.1, 2.4&2.5, 4.2, 4.5, and 6.9, plus Section 12.1.

I'm going to cover Sections 6.1&6.2 within Chapter 3, since I think that they make more sense there and they don't depend on anything in Chapters 4&5. I'll also do the rest of Chapter 6 before I do Chapter 5, since I think that the material in Chapter 6 is more important. Finally, I'll mix up Chapter 5 a bit.

It's a lot of material for 10 weeks, so the class has to move pretty fast; please talk to me early if you need help!

Our day-to-day schedule will look something like this:
