Schedule

The first day of class (April 1 Monday), I'll discuss the administrative aspects of the course and give a brief introduction to the basic ideas of Applied Calculus. If you miss this day, then you shouldn't suffer too much for it, but you'll want to get the administrative information from me. The next day (April 3 Wednesday), the class will begin in earnest.

The official textbook is the 12th Edition of Calculus for Business, Economics, Life Sciences, and Social Sciences published by Prentice Hall (Pearson). In addition to a quick review of Chapters 1&2, we cover Chapters 3 through 7. This includes almost all of Calculus Made Easy, except for Chapters XV&XVI. Here is the complete list of covered sections: 3.1–3, 3.5, 3.7, 4.1–7, 5.1–6, 6.1&2, 6.5. Here they are again, in the approximate order in which I intend to cover them: 3.3, 3.5, 4.4, 4.3, 4.5, 5.2, 3.7, 4.6, 3.1, 3.2, 5.3, 5.5, 5.6, 5.1, 5.4, 4.1, 4.2, 4.7, 6.1, 6.5, 6.2. I'll announce it ahead of time if I change this order further. (To follow what we've covered so far, the easiest thing to do is to check the homework page.)

The last day to drop the course with a full refund is April 8 Monday; the last day to drop at all is May 10 Friday. By May 7 Tuesday, your midterm grade estimates should be available on WebAdvisor; your final grades should be available there on June 13 Thursday. Follow your grades on Moodle if you want to know them faster.
